July 4th, looking back, way back, to my grade school days almost 50 years ago, July 4th was always a great day. My family would have a cook out and afterwards go over to the Olney High School field to watch the fireworks go off. Today we can watch fireworks on TV or the computer and hear them every night of the year. For those of us privileged to live in the Great City of Philadelphia where our country was founded we can access Independence Hall and walk the footsteps of Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. We can travel outside the city to visit Valley Forge and see the site where General George Washington and his troops withstood the brutal winter weather before marching on Trenton. We have many fine museums, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing spots that we can go to. What I am saying is that we can reminisce about the past or we can be present for the present. While looking back brings comfort and joy, don't forget that we live in the NOW. Make use of your summer to reenergize yourselves and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers along the way. God Bless!
